On September 11, 2001, the United States was attacked by terrorists. Thousands of people died in the World Trade Center, in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and in a field in Pennsylvania. Those who died were Americans, but also citizens of over fifty other countries.
Today we take time to remember those who died. We ask God to be merciful to them and give them eternal rest. We gather as a nation, many of us still mourning so great a loss of life and still involved in wars throughout the world. We are one nation, “under God,” and with full trust in his love and compassion we place our hope in God.
Act of Remebrance – For the passengers on American flight 11 and United flight 175 which were flown into the Wrold Trade Center. For all workers who perished in the World Trade Center and neighboring buildings. For firefighters, police and rescue workers who died trying to save others. for the crew and passengers on American flight 77 which was flown into the Pentagon and the personnel and civilians who were killed and injured there. For the heroic crew and passengers on United flight 93 which crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. For all military personnel who have died in the battle against terrorism, and for all those who have died as a result of wars and for all those who mourne for all the dead. You are invited to take a moment and conclude this remembrance with praying the Lord’s Prayer either alone or with those around you at this moment. May God bless us all.
