As All Saints Day comes to an end, two groups of people were preparing to honor the dead for All Souls Day, tomorrow, Monday, November 2.
The Faith Formation families spent time cleaning grave markers, tombstones, and learning more about the reverence due to those who have died.
Then in the evening, over 300 candles were placed amongst the graves at Mt. Calvary in preparation of the Mass at 5pm on Monday evening. When leaving, it was quite moving to see so many candles “burning” and illuminating the cemetery, the place for the dead.
Everyone is invited to the Mass on Monday at Mt. Calvary. It will probably be light still when you arrive, but as we leave we will be able to experience the Light of Christ shining brightly. The area for Mass is well lit, but bring a chair if you wish. You can park on any of the roads within the cemetery and if you park on the street, make sure you are pulled far enough off the road to be safely walking to and from Mass.
This cemetary Mass will be held at Sacred Heart next year and at St. Francis the following year and then rotated after that. Let us come pray for the dead!
